Green Mission Statement

Green Project

Mission Statement

The project coordinators and partners are committed to conducting the project in as sustainable a way as possible. Nature conservation, energy efficiency, emission reduction, sustainable use of resources and sustainable development will be a guiding light throughout preparations and implementation. With carefully planned measures and by actively involving participants with information from early on, we strive to meet our goals as described below, and to encourage all participants and related stakeholders to adopt our vision and mission in their work.

Green Project Actions: As partners, we pledge during the execution of RECET to make efforts to:

  • Stress the principles of sustainable development in general.

  • Implement practices akin to those under the Green Steps for Public Organizations, a programme run by the Environment Agency of Iceland.

  • Appoint a Green Project Officer to provide a green perspective, ensure adherence to the mission statement and support partners in minimizing their environmental footprint during the project.

  • Ensure, whenever possible, that all services and products supplied to the project are certified to follow environmentally sound production processes and carry environmental and ecolabelling.

  • Organize physical meetings in such a way that minimizes participant travel as possible, and subsequently, the environmental footprint of their travel. Participants strive to decrease their footprint. When possible, meetings abroad will be planned, linked up with relevant events to keep travel to a minimum and virtual meeting will always be an option.

  • Purchase services from hotels, restaurants, and conference facilities that, have received recognised ecolabeling such as the Nordic Swan or EU counterparts. Use catering services with limited environmental- and GHG footprint whenever possible.

  • Encourage participants to use public transportation and other low emission transportation methods when traveling to meetings or workshops related to the project.

  • Select means and methods for publishing and distributing preparatory documents, reports and other publications based on minimising environmental footprint and emission of GHG. Printing will be minimized as possible and participants encouraged to work with documents electronically.

  • Strive for equal gender participation in steering groups, working groups and in the programme of workshops and for non-discriminating behaviour in general be it based on gender identity, disability, race, religion, national origin or sexual orientation.

  • Support the participation of youth in the project, workshops and in the project’s results distribution.
