Local Energy Planning Powered by Citizen Dialogue

To meet future energy needs, we must plan together. That’s why Region Blekinge, the County Administrative Board, and Karlskrona Municipality are testing a new approach: inviting residents to take part in energy dialogues.
“By engaging with citizens, we can create long-term solutions tailored to local needs,” says Emil Lind, project manager and energy & climate advisor at Karlskrona Municipality.
The first dialogue in Holmsjö was a great success! Around 20 participants contributed valuable insights to Karlskrona’s energy plan. The event highlighted the community’s strong tradition of local engagement and volunteer-driven development.
“The local expertise and passion in Holmsjö must be reflected in municipal energy planning. When residents like these are given greater responsibility, the results can be powerful,” says Anna Månsson, project manager at Energikontor Syd.
This is just the beginning. More dialogues are planned—and we’re excited to keep learning from the people who know their communities best.
