A Practical Tool for Targeted Climate Action Planning
The RECET Action Bank is a practical tool designed for local authorities working on climate action, energy transition, and energy efficiency.
The action bank is published in English as an Excel spreadsheet presenting a wide range of action ideas that municipalities can undertake to accelerate the clean energy transition and strengthen local climate action. It can serve as a foundation for comprehensive climate action plans or as inspiration for developing individual measures tailored to local conditions. Each action is presented with a clear objective, suggested implementation steps, and guidance on responsibility and administrative integration within municipal structures.
Action Categories
The RECET Action Bank covers five main categories:
Energy Transition
Municipal Operations
Transport Mode Shift
Energy Efficiency
Education and Awareness
Examples of actions include energy transition in school transport, eco-certification of new buildings, development of cycling infrastructure between urban areas, and installing covers for public swimming pools to reduce heat loss.
Developed in Collaboration with Municipalities
The RECET Action Bank was developed by the RECET partners Eimur, The Association of Municipalities in Northeast Iceland (SSNE), and Westfjords Regional Development Office (WRDO), in close cooperation with municipal representatives who participated in RECET workshops on clean energy transition and climate action in 2024 and 2025.
Free and Open Access
The RECET Action Bank is free to use for all municipalities and stakeholders who wish to accelerate the clean energy transition and pursue effective climate action.
It can be explored online in Icelandic and downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet in both Icelandic and English, making it easy to adapt and integrate into local planning processes.
