On 11 November 2024, CIMe hosted a community workshop in Sant Lluís focused on photovoltaic (PV) self-consumption, in collaboration with the IBE ((Balearic Energy Institute). The event formed part of ongoing local efforts to promote citizen participation in the energy transition and to introduce practical models for sharing renewable energy at the community level.

During the workshop, IBE presented its plans to install a PV system on the roof of a local school in Sant Lluís. The electricity produced by the installation will be shared with residents living within a two-kilometre radius, allowing households to directly benefit from clean, locally generated solar energy. The initiative demonstrates how public buildings can play a key role in supporting decentralized and community-driven energy solutions.

The workshop was held at the municipal facilities and brought together 14 residents from the town of Sant Lluís. Discussions focused on how community self-consumption schemes work in practice, including participation criteria, energy distribution, and the potential economic and environmental benefits for households. Participants were also encouraged to ask questions and share their expectations and ideas related to local renewable energy projects.

Overall, the session highlighted strong local interest in shared solar energy initiatives and showed how collaboration between public authorities and citizens can turn everyday spaces — such as school rooftops — into active contributors to the clean energy transition.
