Supporting local authorities in Europe’s green transition

The RECET project brought together nine experts to discuss how local and regional authorities can take an active role in Europe’s green transition.

What does the green transition mean for rural municipalities? How can local authorities and stakeholders be better equipped to take action? And what approaches can help accelerate the transition while building local engagement and acceptance?

These questions were at the heart of the final RECET webinar, Supporting local authorities in Europe’s green transition. Nine experts came together to share experiences, discuss challenges and highlight examples of working with the green transition at municipal and regional level.

The discussion reflected on the practical challenges faced by rural administrations and stakeholders, as well as approaches that can help strengthen local capacity and turn climate and energy ambitions into action.

The webinar brought together perspectives relevant to local and regional policymakers, municipal planners, energy and climate officers, rural development practitioners, researchers and other stakeholders working with renewable energy, land use, regional development and the green transition.

As the RECET project comes to an end, the webinar provides an opportunity to look back at some of the experiences gathered through the project and share them with others working towards a clean energy transition in rural areas.
