RECET kickoff project meeting in Slovenia

The RECET partners

The kick-off meeting for the LIFE project RECET – Rural Europe for the Clean Energy Transition was held in Postojna, Slovenia, on 7–8 November 2023. The meeting marked the official start of the project and brought together partners from across Europe to align their ambitions, roles, and contributions for the coming years.

During the first day, project partners focused on harmonising their efforts and establishing a shared understanding of RECET’s objectives, work packages, and timelines. Through structured discussions and collaborative sessions, participants laid the foundation for effective cooperation and coordination throughout the project’s implementation.

The second day was dedicated to capacity building and stakeholder engagement. Representatives from the Samsø Energy Academy led a training session focused on social engagement methodologies. The training equipped partners with practical tools and approaches for involving local communities in the development of energy and climate plans within their respective regions — a core pillar of the RECET project.

The RECET consortium consists of nine partners from five European countries. From Iceland, the project includes Icelandic New Energy, Eimur, SSNE, and the Westfjords Regional Development Office. Denmark is represented by the Samsø Energy Academy, Slovenia by the Iskriva and the Municipality of Postojna, Spain by the Island Council of Menorca, and Sweden by the Energy Office of South Sweden.

The kick-off meeting in Postojna set a strong and inspiring starting point for the RECET project. Partners returned home energized and motivated, ready to begin the collaborative work of supporting rural regions across Europe in their clean energy transition.
