That simple obervation captures one of RECET's greatest achievements—bringing people together to find practical solutions.
Today, as the project approaches its conclusion, we can confidently say that our partner regions are better equipped than they were three years ago.
New climate action plans have been developed, practical tools such as the RECET Action Bank are supporting municipalities, energy communities are emerging, and collaboration continues well beyond the project itself.
Europe's energy landscape has also evolved significantly during these three years. Energy security, resilience, and local ownership have become central priorities. More communities are recognising that the clean energy transition is not only about technology, but about people working together to shape their own future.
This edition of the RECET Newsletter showcases that journey, from planning to implementation, from ideas to action, and from individual initiatives to lasting partnerships. As we move into the final phase of the project, we hope the experiences shared here will inspire other rural communities across Europe to take the next step in their own clean energy transition.
The Orion Nebula reminds us that the brightest futures often begin with small points of light. RECET has helped many of those lights emerge across Europe, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow long after the project has ended.
This photograph of the Orion Nebula was taken through the eyepiece of a telescope during a chilly March night in Menorca. Looking into the night sky is like looking back in time, the light reaching us today left the nebula around 1,500 years ago. Yet the Orion Nebula is also a stellar nursery, where new stars are being born. In many ways, it reminds me of rural communities, where the ideas, partnerships, and innovations that will shape tomorrow's clean energy future are taking root today.
When the #RECETproject began three years ago, we looked closely at where our partner regions stood on their clean energy transition journeys. Across Northeast Iceland, the Westfjords, Blekinge, Postojna, and Menorca, every region had different ambitions, different challenges, and different starting points. Some wanted to develop climate and energy plans, others needed support to move from planning to implementation, while others focused on building awareness, strengthening local ownership, or engaging communities in new ways.
RECET was designed to meet each region where it was. Rather than applying a single solution, we worked alongside municipalities and local stakeholders to strengthen capacity, share practical experience, encourage collaboration, and support better-informed decision-making.
